Permanent Account Number (PAN):
- Every tax-payer in India need a unique Permanent Account Number (PAN).
- Application for PAN can be submitted online or in person at TIN facility centers.
- After getting PAN, it must be registered in the portal.
- Steps to register PAN (one time registartion):
- Keep an e-mail id and a cell-phone number.
- Visit www.inceometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
- Click at the Register yourself link,
- Give correct information in every field,
- Authenticate your registraion using the two step verification process.
- Steps to prepare and submit return online (possible only after one-time registration and authentication of PAN):
- Visit www.inceometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
- Click at the Login Here link,
- Give PAN as user name, password, date of birth and captcha code correctly
- Your home page will appear.
- Click at quick e-file in left pane of the home page,
- Give assessment year
- Try to understand the appearing form, with six tabs.
While using the page in the portal try to give attention to all instructions including pop-ups.

No need to send hard copy of ITRV to CPC
Now tax-payer can varify (authenticate) return through online-banking (internet-banking) page, instead of sending signed hard copy of ITRV to CPC Check your latest tax credit statement (26AS) before preparing return and before responding for any notice from the authorities.
Now tax-payer can prepare and submit form 10E for claiming tax rebate for arrear received under section 89(1). Response for notices through e-mail/sms are to be submitted through link for rectification after loging into your page
